chocolate's good for us

choclate loves, rejoice, Research shows taht regularly comsuming as little as a squre of chocolate a day help to reduce your blood presure and thus your chance of succming to cardiovascular isease. Scientissts have found that people eating just 7.5 grams of chocolate daily were at a 39% lower risk ofhaving a heart attack or stroke compared with those who eta just 1.7 grams.
The study, published in the Eurpen Heart journal, found that modest chocolate intake had a significant effect on people 's blood presureThe benefits were more pronounced for a reduced risk of a storke , but also brought less chance of a heart attack too.
Researchers, led by ??, a nutritional epidemiologist at the German I nstitute of Human Nutrition, made the link after studying the health of 19, 357 Germans aged 35-65 for at least 10 years. They believe that flavanols, substance in cocao that boost the body's suppy of nitric oxide, contribute to the chocalate eater's lowered blood presure.
The researh confirms an associatan which other studis hve made. The lower likeliood of stroke may be du to cocoa increasing the flow of blood around the brain, the authors say. Among 1,??? participants whose chocolate intake was tracked, 57% ate milk chocolate late, 24% preferred dark and 2% ate ae white chocolate .The dark variety contains ore flavonals, and so is thonught to have a greather effect.
Howeve, these findings should not lead o hocalete gluttonly, said the authors.Futher researh is needed before small amounts f chocalate can be prescribed to prevent CVD.
"the amout consumed on average by even thehighest consumer was about one squre of choolate a dy or half a small chocolate Easter egg in a week, so the benefits were associated with a fairly small amount ofchocolate ,"said????
Those tempted to indulge should remenber that chocolate contains large amounts of calries and saturated fats, which are elated to weight gain and high cholesterol-tw risk factors for heart disease. And people should also eat fruit, vegetables and oily fish and be active for at least half-an-hour daily...
